Rare and Unusual Grips.

For years we have tried all different kinds of materials for a suitable substitute for cork. We’ve tried rattan, wood and even systhetics but most were not viable as grips. Cottonwood bark is the closest material for grips, it’s lightweight, can be shaped easily and takes on a very nice patina over time. We do however recommend that you treat the bark with tung oil or something very similar to help seal the bark against moisture getting into the pores after years of getting wet, covered in fish slime and just common soiling from use.

We have found a very limited source due to the rarity of excellent quality cottonwood bark. We have shaped and sanded and sealed and we were surprised on how much they have the feel and trexture of cork. These grips will add a very custom feature for those looking for something different and unusual.
